As men, our tendency is to handle life “on our own.” But we usually end up on an island – just when we need wisdom the most. Establishing a mentoring partnership prevents getting shipwrecked on that island.
The Men’s Mentoring Ministry exists to promote Paul/Timothy relationships. By matching up Pauls with Timothys, using common factors such as interests, experiences and geographical location, the Men’s Mentoring Ministry streamlines the mentoring process and provides growth opportunities for both the mentor and the mentee. The desire of this ministry is to “equip” men to “Equip Men”. Proverbs 27:17 “As Iron sharpens Iron so one man sharpens another.”
Men have many things to gain when choosing to connect with a guy who has been through the trenches of life we have yet to encounter. This is called seeking out wisdom. One form of being mentored is discipleship. A disciple is simply a learner. If we take what we learn from another guy who has traveled the long and dusty road before us, and apply it to our life, we gain wisdom.
