Elementary Children’s Ministry Director

 
Position Summary - To work closely with the church staff, lay leaders, children and their families in providing and maintaining an effective children’s ministry program involving children (kindergarten through fifth grade) of the church and the surrounding community while a search for the permanent children’s pastor is conducted.


Qualifications

 
- Possesses a mature and growing commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior with a strong biblical knowledge base.
- A calling and passion from the Lord to cherish, reach and disciple children. This would be a person who recognizes this as a way of life, not just a job.
- Exhibit a lifestyle of strong character in accordance with Christian values.
- Proven experience in recruiting and leading a large adult volunteer staff.
- Proven management, communication, planning and organizational skills.
- Creative and innovative perspective for children’s programming yet respectful of others insight about current programming.
- Able to teach God’s Word to children in a relevant way that speaks to children at appropriate age levels.
- Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic who can cast vision in children’s ministry that reflects the vision of the church.
- Some college and biblical training desired
- Teachable spirit and willingness and desire to grow while working with the current staff.
- Theological and philosophical beliefs congruent with those of Graceland Baptist Church
 

Directly Responsible To:

Family Life Pastor


Work Closely With:

Pastoral, staff, Church staff, Lay leaders, Parents of the children within the church.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and help lead all children services on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
  • Recruit, train and serve volunteers in children's ministries program.
  • Evaluate, select and implement curriculum materials and educational tools for children's ministries program using children’s ministry leadership team’s input.
  • Review and evaluate curriculum materials, ministry roles, and educational policies for the Children’s Ministry. Any changes should be requested through proper channels which include leadership teams and Family Life Pastor.
  • Recruit, train, coordinate and supervise lay leaders of the Children’s Ministry for teaching teams for all children’s services and programs.
  • Help develop and coordinate current programs which include: Kid University, Summer Camps, Vacation Bible School, AWANA
  • Develop and implement comprehensive special summer activities.
  • Work closely and cooperatively with the Administration department, Facilities team, Student Ministry team, Family Life team and the church staff.
  • Establish departmental goals and objectives by prioritizing related programs, managing the use of facilities, planning an appropriate budget, delegating tasks and evaluating progress regularly.
  • Submit to the designated authority figures of the church and uphold a lifestyle of biblical discipline and a cooperative attitude.
  • Other duties as assigned
